He also wears a set of aviator sunglasses while outside. His build is more on the lean side, but make no mistake, he is far from weak. Having survived in the wilderness for years prior to reaching Hope Base, his build is that of a runner and archer, and he has the scars to prove he had to fight to survive out there.
Personality: Axel is a textbook hunter. Cool and collected under pressure, he uses his sharp wit, keen eyes, and steady hand to find the right opening for attack and has the patience to make every shot count. While he isn't the best at directions, he'll still reach where he has to go eventually if he isn't following someone.
That said, being stuck in the wilderness as long as he has can change a person, and this is especially true when one takes the fact that Axel cannot remember his early life at all into account. Out there, away from civilization, only the strong survive. Axel is not the most sociable of people, preferring to be by himself. He shows little emotion, and is a tough nut to crack socially. He is also not one to mince his words: he tells it like he sees it, has doesn't care how hurtful he sounds when he says it, and any and all subtext goes right over his head. He also tends to sleep very little when out in the field, since a sleeping hunter is a vulnerable hunter. He also isn't above using dirty tricks in battle, having little care for things like honor when all that truly matters is survival.

History: Much of Axel's past is a mystery; not even he himself remembers it all. The earliest thing he can remember is waking up one day in the ruins of a destroyed town. Not knowing how the town was destroyed, nor how he came to be there, Axel decided it was best to move on in case whatever destroyed the town came back to look for survivors. Gathering up what survival gear he could from the ruined homes (including a bow and quiver of arrows), he set out not long after, with no real destination in mind. It was rough going at first, but over time, his skills as a hunter grew, and so did his determination to survive.
It was after his 2nd year wandering in the wilderness that he found the most probable cause of the destruction of the town he'd woken up in: a group of giant machines razing towns and villages with little regard for the civilians living there. Sure, only the strong survive out in the wild, but that was still no excuse for such wanton destruction of civilization. Now determined to find some way to try and stop these attacks, he continued to wander, trying to find someway, anyway, to help people fight back. It wouldn't be until after another two years that he finally stumbles upon a place, some kind of vault, where survivors of various destroyed towns had been gathering, with more of those giant machines inert within. Curious, he set out for the place, wondering if maybe the people gathering there found a way to fight back.
